Attempted murder on N12 Etwatwa off-ramp

The complainant could only tell police that they took his cellphone, his wallet, which contained R600 cash, and his bag with school papers.

A man was shot in the right buttock soon after he got out of a taxi on the N12 Etwawa off-ramp last Tuesday evening, says Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora.

The man, who had just arrived from Middelburg, was approached by four men, one of whom had a firearm.

Seeing the men, the victim started running away. The suspects shouted to each other in isiZulu to catch him.

The victim’s report is a little sketchy after that because he was traumatised and in pain.

Apparently, Capt Maqabe from SAPS Etatwa was driving past and saw the victim lying on the ground.

Maqabe stopped and looked after the victim until the ambulance arrived and took the victim to Far East Rand Hospital.

The complainant could only tell police that the men stole his cellphone, his wallet, which contained R600 cash, and his bag with school papers.

A skeleton docket for attempted murder has been opened.
