40 years for the Scouts group

He says they are currently having 24 Cubs and 12 Scouts and for this year they are aiming at recruiting at least 20 Scouts.

The Springs Central Air Scout Group celebrated its 40th anniversary last Saturday.

A scout group leader, Riaan Swanepoel, says, “The reason why we are called an air scout group is because we are involved in air activities such as piloting and air hostess training.

“Scouting is a youth movement and it’s also a skills development programme.

“We have two groups. The Cubs, which accommodate children from seven to 11 years old and also the Scouts, which is a group of 11 to 18 years old children.”
