Public warned of scammers
Media manager of the Department of Home Affairs, David Hlabane says, “We haven’t received any complaints from the Springs offices, so we can confirm that the scammers haven’t got to Springs yet. However, we warn the public to be aware of such scammers.”
Reports on social media have been on about the Department of Home Affairs scam whereby by scammers go around people’s houses claiming to be from home affairs.
The scammers are allegedly in possession of letterheads which are from the Department of Home Affairs and claim the reason for their visit is to double check if members of the public have valid IDs ahead of the 2019 general elections.

They then rob the unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables.
This has been going on in some parts of Gauteng and South Africa at large.
