Cadets show off their cooking skills

The TS Springs Cadets had their annual second dinner on Saturday evening.

Guests were treated to a seven-course meal all prepared by the cadets.

“The cadets are taught valuable skills and one of them is cooking.

“This is their chance to show off in the catering department,” says Ensign Michael Taylor.

Attendees were treated to chicken pastry, Napolitana spaghetti and trifle, all made by the cadets, aged 11 to 17.

Seaman Peter Taylor was proud of the effort put in by his fellow cadets.

“I’m impressed by what we have accomplished and it’s exciting to know what we’re capable of.

“It was a lot of fun putting everything together,” says Taylor.

Parents were amazed by the quality of the dishes prepared.

Madelein Sargent says the roast beef and vegetables was her favourite by far.

The dinner was part of the cadet’s fund-raising efforts for the year.

One the cadets came up with this mouthwatering red pepper Napolitana sauce for the spaghetti.
