Local student excels in academics and sport

Springs Boys' High School express pride on behalf of the whole school.

Grade 11 learner Kutloanmo Mbonani clinched a host of awards and achievements at Springs Boys’ High School at their annual honours evening held on February 20.

For academics, Mbonani received the following awards:

A certificate and the African Independent Award for highest marks in life orientation.

The PFG Trophy and the African Independent Award or highest marks in mathematics (June exams).

The Executive Excellence Trophy African Independent Award for highest marks in mathematics.

The Brian Gould Trophy and the African Independent Award for highest marks in mathematics and physical sciences (combined).

The Meter Trophy and the African Independent Award for highest marks in the ordinary field of study in Grade 11.

The Sikiotis Trophy and the African Independent Award for highest overall marks in Grade 11 as well as a certificate and scroll for academic full colours.

In sports, Mbonani can boast full colours in athletics and half colours in rugby.

This will be the second time that Mbonani receives the school’s honours award.

Among these myriad of awards, Mbonani was awarded the Starkosch Memorial Bursary for excellent achievement in mathematics as well as the Venter Trophy for the top honours achiever.
