Seventy-six children from the home attended the fun day and got the chance to spend time with the cadets, enjoying a day of boating, seamanship and fun in the sun.

This is part of the training the Sea Cadets undergo, where they learn leadership, seamanship, boating, first aid, firefighting and culinary skills, among others.

“At the event, we had two qualified lifesavers, two level three first aiders, one qualified firefighter and three qualified Coxswains (trained to run the boats), all below the age of 18 years old.

“Thank you to the Chance Children’s Home for making the day so special for us,” says Vaughn Cooper, officer commanding, Lieutenant Commander (SCC) of TS Springs.
