Pay your council bill at retail stores

Municipal accounts can be paid at major retailers such as Pick ’n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, Spar, Pep, Ackermans, Boxer, Makro and Builders Warehouse.

The City of Ekurhuleni’s online payment service, Siyakhokha Siyathuthuka, is now available at retail stores.

Residents can conveniently pay their municipal services at the till when they do their grocery shopping.

“For the convenience of our customers, municipal accounts can be paid at major retailers such as Pick ’n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, Spar, Pep, Ackermans, Boxer, Makro and Builders Warehouse,” said Clr Doctor Xhakaza, Ekurhuleni MMC for Finance and Economic Development.

The retail services complement the already existing convenient online e-Siyakhokha payment system that enables customers to view and pay their accounts online by registering on www.e-siyakhokha.co.za.

In addition, payments can be made at any of the Siyakhokha kiosks available at Lakeside Mall, Alberton City, OR Tambo International Airport, the Post Office and selected filling stations, licensing offices and spaza shops.

The city encourages all ratepayers to ensure that municipal accounts are up to date to avoid disconnection of services.

Credit control measures are done throughout the year and payment arrangements can be made at local customer care centres for accounts in arrears.

Pensioners and unemployed residents are encouraged to register on the city’s Indigent Management Database, more details of which are available at the city’s customer care centres.
