Job seekers cautioned over hoax

The same text message is also sent to people who have not applied for any post.

It has come to the attention of the City of Ekurhuleni that a hoax message is making the rounds informing job seekers that the position they have applied for has become available and that the applicant meets the criteria.

This is a scam.

The same text message is also sent to people who have not applied for any post from the city, and therefore residents are urged not to reply to the SMS.

The city’s recruitment system sends an email correspondence to the candidates’ email addresses that were specified during registration, notifying them of the status of their applications.

In some instances, correspondence can be through a call.

Furthermore, applications for jobs in the city do not require any payment to be made.

Should one be required to make a payment in relation to the city’s recruitment, residents are urged to report it to the City of Ekurhuleni’s anonymous Anti-Fraud Hotline on 0800 102 201 or email ethicsinfo@ekurhuleni.gov.za
