The metro has responded to the Never-Never informal settlement request for relocation.
The Human Settlements Department intends to relocate the Never-Never residents to Brakpan Old Location as soon as all preparations for relocation are completed.
Metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe says the delay in relocation is because the Brakan Old Location is an informal settlement area.

“The department has planned one of its Mega housing development projects in Old Brakpan location.
“The project will be implemented over a period of five years. For the 2018/9 financial year, the city will do detailed designs of the project, to be followed by the installation of bulk link services and the housing construction project.
“Unfortunately, the residents cannot be moved immediately because there are no stands and/or houses there as the project is still in a planning phase,” says Gadebe.
