Selcourt resident to start youth upliftment project

“It’s going to be a night of entertainment where local artists will perform and I will be giving a talk on the importance of a positive mindset,” says Moukangwe.

Selcourt resident Lerato Moukangwe is launching her own youth upliftment project.

This project forms part of Moukangwe’s ongoing community work, which she is passionate about.

In recent months, Moukangwe has raised money for the SPCA and held a literacy drive to collect books for under-resourced schools.

“This is an upliftment project to raise funds for The Potters Haven.

“It’s going to be a night of entertainment where local artists will perform and I will be giving a talk on the importance of a positive mindset,” says Moukangwe.

2018 has proven to be a busy year for Moukangwe who has also been nominated to win the Humanitarian of the Year Award.

The Humanitarian of the Year Award, which was founded by Copperstone Event Production and Creative Agency, goes to the nominated individual who is compassionate, humane, unselfish, altruistic, generous, kind, sympathetic, charitable, philanthropic, public-spirited, socially concerned and seeking to promote human welfare.

Members of the public can then vote for candidates they feel is most deserving of the award on the Humanitarian of the Year Facebook page.

The event will take place on October 12 at Springs Girls’ High School and tickets cost R200.
