Applicants applying for a pensioner’s unit must be 60 years and older and should be in a position to look after themselves because these are self-caring units.
What do potential applicants need to bring when applying for housing?
When applying for accommodation, the elderly applicants are requested to submit:
• Certified copy of their identity document
• Statement from Sassa indicating that they receive a pension
• Proof of residence
• Certified copy of their divorce decree or spouse’s death certificate (if applicable)
• Three months’ bank statements (if applicable)

Applicants can collect the application forms from any of the Customer Care Centres (Human Settlements offices).
