The Muslim Community’s ‘Eid ul Adha’ facility in Bakerton left many locals from Slovo Park, Everest and surrounding areas, in appreciation after receiving meat parcels and other food stuffs.

In yet another successful community project, the Springs Muslim Community’s ‘Eid ul Adha’ facility in Bakerton left many locals from Slovo Park, Everest and surrounding areas, in appreciation after receiving meat parcels and other edibles.

The second Eid on the Islamic calendar, celebrated this year on August 22, translates as ‘Feast of the Sacrifice’ and culminates the end of the Hajj, a spiritual journey to Mecca.

Muslims around the world commemorate Prophet Abraham’s faithfulness to Allah (God) by sacrificing livestock, feasting with family and friends and sharing with the indigent.

Officials provide quality slaughter, skinning and distribution of facilities to hundreds of patrons and proceeds are used to supplementing funds for the needy learners of Springs Muslim School who cannot afford school fees.

In an amazing display of brotherhood, surrounding residents, who queue as early as daybreak, receive free parcels of meat, tripe and trotters.

This year, two sheep were shared among foreign students at the nearby Islamic University in Presida.

One of the patrons, Abdullah Ndaba says, “Making use of this facility is a great experience and special thanks to all who are involved in proving a quality service.”

Organisers thanked everyone who contributed this year and hope to increase the number of patrons in the future.
