Women in business meet to discuss ideas, network at Springsgate

The event was organised by Dolores de Gouveia and was the first event of its kind in Springs.

Over 150 women gathered at a local restaurant on Saturday morning to network, share ideas and promote their businesses.

Guests listened to informative talks as well as company presentations.

One of the speakers was Yolande Cook, who spoke about femininity leadership and how there are different types of female leadership.

“We’re not emotional, we’re passionate,” says Cook.

For de Gouveia, the event came about as a complete surprise but she was very happy about the turnout.

“We were trying to support my daughter while she was selling her jewellery, and we put it on Facebook, and it just blossomed from there.

“We actually want to start a committee now to help women with their business and exchange skills and knowledge to help and support each other,” says de Gouveia.

The businesswomen, from all over the East Rand, also enjoyed a scrumptious lunch and won fantastic prizes throughout the day.
