Get involved in Springs CPF

Join the new Springs Extension CPF.

Arles Baloyi, chairperson of Springs Sector Six Community Policing Forum (CPF), would like to establish a CPF in Springs Extension and is looking for residents who would like to be involved in the setting up and running of the forum.

He says he is looking for people who will be “active by attending monthly CPF meetings and within the community.”

He is inviting all interested parties and says that he would like as many people as possible to be involved to increase the chances of fighting crime in the area and ensure the people of Springs Ext are safe.

“As the chairman of sector six, I will be responsible for giving volunteers orientation and basic workshops as to what CPF is and what is expected of them as a community,” he says.

He explains that not all members are expected to be part of the neighbourhood patrols.

These patrols, he says, are in addition to working with the committee and discussing ways of making the area safer.

“If we can get people talking within the community, including among the youth and businesses, then the police will also come on board to help partner with us to combat crime.

“We will operate a CPF WhatsApp group like they do in other areas to keep everyone involved informed.”

Currently, Ian Saville is the acting chairperson and Marileze Feldman is acting treasurer and secretary and Baloyi is assisting them with day-to-day issues.

Once more residents came on board, an executive committee will be elected.

Anyone who is interested in getting involved can contact Feldman on 076 124 4599 or Saville on 078 690 3544.
