KwaThema CPF gets a welcome boost

“We also need uniforms for patrollers and torches for work at night.”

KwaThema – The KwaThema Community Policing Forum (CPF) offices were revamped with the help of the Department of Social Development and Coca-Cola on Thursday.

The help comes after the team won an award for best-performing CPF in the Ekurhuleni East Cluster in February, hosted by the two institutions.

The prize the team won included a laptop, a printer and banners.

But when the officials visited the CPF’s offices to hand over the prize, they couldn’t believe the state in which the members were forced to operate.

Treasurer of KwaThema CPF, Mmasetshaba Makhubedu, says after the department saw the state of the offices they vowed to renovate them.

“We were using the old police offices and they didn’t have electricity or running water.

“We were forced to attend to cases before dark or we would be forced to work in the dark,” she says.

Mmasetshaba explains their members are dedicated to helping the police to fight crime in the area.

“We now have lights, running water, signage and new furniture for our offices.
