Suspects steal over R30 000 at meat factory in Springs

A meat store’s factory in Springs was robbed at 4.12pm on Friday by six suspects driving a silver Polo sedan.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, the spokesperson of the Springs police, says the suspects entered the premises and yelled at the security guard that they have an appointment with one of the staff members.

Three suspects went toward the gate and one entered the office building where two managers were sitting and they allegedly asked for the said staff member.

One of the managers went outside to look for the person and two suspects went back inside to where the other manager was still sitting.

The suspects pointed a firearm at the person and took cash to the amount of R30 730.

They then got back in their vehicle and went to the security gate where the other suspects held the guard at gunpoint.

One of the suspects opened the gate and fired a shot in the security guard’s direction before they fled the scene in the vehicle.

No one was injured and a case of business robbery is being investigated.
