Motorists complain about delays after traffic lights removed on Paul Kruger Highway.

The removal of the traffic lights on the Paul Kruger Highway at the Lindelani Informal Settlement intersection has left motorists frustrated with the time delays.

Motorists driving from Springs allege the removal of the traffic lights has caused a 20-minute delay.

When asked why they were removed, metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe says, “The traffic signals were vandalised twice during recent service delivery protests.

“The cost of a traffic signal installation like that is in the order of R350 000 to R400 000.

“In the meantime, EMPD will do points duty at the said intersection.

“The traffic signals will be reinstalled depending on the availability of funds in future financial years.”
