Springs resident, Heila Killian murdered in Stilbaai

Friends were attacked while enjoying a braai in Stilbaai.

Springs resident Heila Killian, was murdered in Stilbaai late on Monday evening.

Killian and three friends were enjoying a braai at a farm when they were surprised by five assailants dressed in orange trousers and their faces covered with balaclavas.

The suspects started shooting at the victims without warning and one of the bullets hit 63-year-old Heila Killian.

Killian died of her injuries on the scene.

The two men and women who were with Killian managed to escape and a farm worker nearby called the police.

“By the time the police arrived on the scene, the suspects had escaped.

“The assailants broke into the safe at the nursery and fled with a collection of firearms, hunting knives and an undisclosed amount of cash.

“The farm owner’s bakkie was also stolen but CCTV footage of the assailants with the bakkie was captured at a nearby petrol station where the assailants had stopped to put fuel into the car.

“There is a manhunt for the suspects,” says Southern Cape police spokesperson Capt Malcolm Pojie.

The Addie has attempted to get hold of the family or the family spokesperson, but has not been able to get in touch with them at the time of publishing.
