Drugs worth R80 000 found in Selection Park

Police spots suspicious suspects who were in possession of mandrax tablets.

Two suspects were nabbed in Selection Park for dealing in drugs on April 6 at noon.

The Springs SAPS Crime Prevention Unit and rangers were conducting stop and search procedures at Hills Road when they noticed a blue Daihatsu with two suspicious looking people therein.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, spokesperson for the Springs police says police officers followed the vehicle with the intention to search them.

When the suspects realised they were being followed, they immediately threw three plastic bags out of the window.

On quick inspection, police officers discovered the bags contained drugs suspected to be mandrax tablets.

The two suspects were immediately arrested for dealing in drugs.

The total number of drug tablets were 1 326, with a street value of R80 000.

“The suspects are aged 54 and 55 and were taken to the Springs Police Station,” says Ramphora.

A case docket of being in possession of drugs and dealing in drugs was opened for further investigations.

Springs SAPS station commander Brig Thembeka Gwebushe applauded the members for their dedication and enthusiasm to keep the Springs precinct a crime free area.
