Taxi association recognises best drivers of the month

Two Four Plus One drivers, Jeffery Sekgala and Solomon Jnr Mlangeni, have been awarded Best Drivers of the Month awards for March.

KwaThema – The initiative was started earlier this year to motivate the drivers to improve their behaviour and the industry.

The Springs Taxi Association PRO, Willie Sithole, says this will ensure and encourage the drivers to abide by the rules of the road and association.

“We are also appreciating the drivers and the special committee that is dedicated to making this call.

“The drivers are monitored monthly by management on how they conduct their business.

“Through the years we have been receiving complaints from the commuters about bad service they receive from the drivers.

“We are encouraging them to respect their passengers, good hygiene, which includes themselves and their vehicle,” he says.

Willie says they are calling on other drivers to participate in the initiative.

“We want them to treat this as a business and be able to grow within the industry.

“They cannot end-up working as drivers but must also work towards becoming owners.

“We are also putting out a challenge to the kombi drivers to adopt this program,” he says.

Sekgala says he appreciates the recognition by the association.

“I started driving the taxi in 2015 and there were many challenges that we encounter in the industry.

“This is an opportunity to grow my business and absorb more unemployed drivers.

“Through this initiative, the drivers will improve their behaviour.

“The growth and improvement will help us. I am using the opportunity to support my family,” he says.

Commuters who receive bad service from the drivers can report it at Majola Taxi rank (Duduza Rank) or call 011 815 6240.
