The Hawan began at 5am, followed by the recitals at 6am which carried on until about 7pm.
Ritasha Singh, secretary of the Springs Sanathan Ved Dharam Sabha, says they have to complete 108 Chalisa recitals before the day is out.
Various groups came in their allotted time slots to start their recitals until it all added up to 108.
“The recitals are not allowed to stop,” she says, “when one group finishes, the next must be prepared and immediately start up with theirs.”
She says all the people of the community are invited to offer flowers to the deity and to participate in the prayer.
“It shows unity and the community coming together.”
