Tip-off leads to arrest in Slovo Park

A tip-off lead to the recovery of a 9mm pistol belonging to a private security firm in Slovo Park where one suspect was arrested on Monday at 8pm.

The EMPD Public Order Policing Task team members, in conjunction with Springs SAPS members, followed up on information received which led to the arrest of a suspect found in possession of a stolen Norinco 9mm pistol.

Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson of the EMPD says a residence in Slovo Park was swooped upon by the metro police where the suspect was found in possession of the stolen firearm with its serial number still intact.

“The pistol was found loaded with two live rounds,” he says.

The 42-year-old old suspect was detained at Springs Police Station on charges of possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition.
