A local pub hosted a Potjie Pot Competition on Saturday morning.
Four teams pitched, sure that they had the winning potjie.
At the end, the team of Irene Venter, Dannie Pienaar, Reinette Theron, Charlton Venter and Charlize Venter came out tops.
Team leader Dannie Pienaar says the secret to a good potjie is a slow mind.
“You have to give your ingredients time to marry.
“If you add nice ingredients, you get a nice flavour and you get perfect food,” says Pienaar.
Pienaar was unwilling to share his team’s recipe saying he just cooks for family and friends.
For those not skilled with potjie, the pub will be hosting a Master Chef Braai Competition later this year.
“You can put your skills to the test against other braai masters then,” says manager Ilene Strauss.
