Madeley Road fear overgrown bush a fire hazard in Springs

Residents fear bush a hiding place for criminals.

Residents on Madeley Road fear that the overgrown bush could be a fire hazard for the houses nearby.

The bush is in front of an electricity box and residents fear that if lightning struck the electricity box, the fire would spread quickly because of the weeds there.

Residents also fear that the municipality would not be able to access the box in case of an emergency because of the bush.

The bush is also blocking the vision of motorists coming around the corner.

“A part of the bush is also on someone’s land and we don’t know who it is.

“Thieves can hide there and lay in wait for you.

“It’s not safe because we walk past here every day,” says Lucas Joubert.

The bush is quickly attracting waste as there are people dumping their rubbish there illegally.

The municipality failed to respond in time for publication.
