Springs farm worker stabbed in robbery

Two farm workers were attacked on Thursday evening, leaving one of them with a stab wound to his hand.

Two farm workers were attacked on Fountain Farm along Welgedacht Road at around 6.30pm on Thursday.

A 33-year-old farm worker was cooking outside of his room when three men grabbed him, pushed him into the room and onto his bed.

The men held him down and searched him, robbing him of two cellphones and R1 630 in cash.
The suspects then stuffed a cloth in his mouth and tied him up with shoelaces.
They proceeded to the next room where they found one of his colleagues.
The second victim tried to fight off his assailants and was stabbed in the hand.
The robbers took R515 and his cellphone from him.
The suspects then fled the scene, with security and law enforcement officers chasing them towards Payneville.
Springs police spokesperson Captain Johannes Ramphora says: “the injured farm worker is still in hospital as a result of the stabbing and the three suspects are still at large.”
The police have not opened a case.
More information will follow when it becomes available.
