Eastern Gauteng Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EGCCI) gather for 101st AGM

Several companies rewarded for long-standing membership at Eastern Gauteng Chamber of Commerce and Industry annual general meeting.

The Eastern Gauteng Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EGCCI) held their annual general meeting at the Riverside Country Estate in Grootvaly last Thursday night.

This was the 101st annual general meeting and was well-attended by various companies that are part of the chamber.

Famed architect Jeffrey Cole was the guest speaker of the evening and he gave a talk on Art Deco architecture on the East Rand.

Cole has been involved in several important projects throughout his career and these include the restoration of the Sir Herbert Baker-designed Pretoria Station.

Cole is in the process of establishing the Gauteng Art Deco Society.

The president, vice-president and executive committee members who were elected for the 2018/2019 year were also announced.

President of the EGCCI for 2018 to 2020 is Mike du Toit from Forest Products.

The vice-president for 2018 to 2020 is Pravin Naidoo from Impala Platinum.

The executive committee members elected are Taurai Chinganga from Western Platinum, Barbara-Ann Day from B A Day Recruiting Services, Raymond Garside from Pat Hinde Toyota Springs, Bob Gillies from Diesel Electric (Industrial), Barto Greeff from McCain Foods, Sandy Hattingh from Hoffman’s General Dealer, Andries Joubert from Netcare N17 Hospital, Lulu Moutafis from JCJ Sweets, Rodney Ndlala from Sinomsebenzi and Maans Swart from Mpact.

The co-opted members on the executive committee by reason of their expertise and knowledge of the chamber movement are Phillip de Jager from De Jager Kruger Van Blerk, Suzanne Finney from Impala Platinum Refineries, Samantha Keogh from Springs Advertiser and Peter Miller from Peter Miller and Associates.

Longstanding chamber membership awards were also handed out to several companies.

Contact and Supply received the Bronze Award from Eastern Gauteng Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EGCCI). Accepting the award on their behalf was Chris Pinkerton.

Receiving the platinum award for 70 years of membership was Rodl and Partner.

Harchris Heat Treatment and Liebherr Africa both received the diamond award for 60 years of membership.

The silver award went to Sump (Pty) Limited for 40 years membership.

President of the EGCCI Mary Reynolds with Roy Reison of SUMP (Pty) Limited. SUMP won the Silver Award for 40 years with the EGCCI.

Contact and Supply received the bronze award for 30 years of membership.

Boston Business College and Absa Springs were both rewarded for 20 years of membership.

Chris Cardoso of Liebherr Africa receives the Diamond Award from EGCCI President Mary Reynolds. Liebherr Africa has been part of EGCCI for 60 years.
