Motorists driving through the South Main Reef Road and Paul Kruger Highway face delays of up to 20 minutes during peak hour traffic.
That is because the traffic lights are not timed correctly to let motorists from the South Main Reef Road turn into Paul Kruger Highway.
Motorists have resorted to performing dangerous driving manoeuvres to avoid the delay when coming from Hospital Road.

Ward councillor Dean Stone says when he asked the city engineers to correct this problem, he was allegedly told that city engineers do not have access to the traffic lights because it has been outsourced.
Metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe did not answer why city engineers do not have access to the traffic and why this has been outsourced but did say that “the traffic signal timing plans will be revised to improve traffic flow at the South Main Reef and Paul Kruger intersection and is expected to be completed by mid-March”.
