Springs residents: check if your car is one of 700 000 vehicles recalled by Toyota

What Toyota's vehicle recall means for Springs drivers.

Toyota has recalled over 700 000 of its cars over an airbag fault.

The Takata manufactured airbags are either not opening on impact or metal shards pierce through them on impact.

The recall began in April 2017 and affects all Toyota models as well as Lexus.

Springs drivers who are not sure if their car is included in the recall should phone their local Toyota dealership.

Raymond Garside, the new vehicle manager at Pat Hinde Toyota Springs, says: “If you’re not sure about what to do, please call our local service centre on 011 812 1030 and ask for the service department.

“You should have your Vin number on hand and based on that, they will tell you to bring in your car or not.

“If your car is included in the models being recalled, they will then book it in for you and will replace the faulty airbag.

“There is also a nationwide service number you can call, which is 0800 139 111.”

You can also enter your VIn number at https://www.toyota.co.za/recall to check whether your vehicle needs to be attended to.
