Robbers break through burglar bars in Daggafontein

A man was woken by three suspects in his bedroom in Daggafontein on Friday (January 26) at around 1am.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, the spokesperson for the Springs police, says one of the suspects pointed a firearm at the complainant and ordered him to keep quiet.

The suspects tied the complainant up with a necktie and asked for money.

“He allegedly told them he only had R10,” says Ramphora.

The suspects took a number of electronic devices worth about R31 000.

Entry was gained through the lounge window where the burglar bars had been forced open.

“The complainant has an alarm system which never activated.

“After pressing the panic button several times, the complainant untied himself but no security guards responded.”

A case of house robbery is being investigated.
