Bombing and armed robbery at Paul Kruger Highway petrol station

Man robbed at ATM after suspects bomb safety box at petrol station on Paul Kruger Highway.

A business robbery and bombing took place at a petrol station on Paul Kruger Highway at midnight on Thursday (January 19).

Two emergency services personnel walked into the petrol station’s shop, followed by three unknown males.

Amanda Greybe, spokesperson for the Springs police says the complainant saw all three suspects were armed with firearms.

“The suspects allegedly pushed the complainant, coworkers and the two emergency service personnel to the back of the store,” she says.

Everyone was ordered to lie down on the floor.

“The complainant states that while he was on the floor, he heard three loud explosions and when he looked up, he saw one suspect standing guard and two other loading money from the drop safe into bags,” says Greybe.

The suspects also took cigarettes, oil and energy drinks.

When the suspects went outside, they saw a man withdrawing money from an ATM located next to the shop.

“They approached the man and pointed firearms at him while demanding he withdraw the entire amount in his bank account, which he did.”

The suspects climbed into a a Fiat Palio and fled the scene.

No shots were fired.
