• Rudi fights for his life after motorbike accident – Rudi Seyffert lost control of his motorbike when he swerved to avoid a collision on Zuurfontein Road, Kempton Park.

• Dangerous illegal speed humps removed – residents of Alliance Extension One in Benoni erected illegal speed humps in Outeniqua Road between Eastvale and Modder East.

• Geduld epilepsy residents wrapped in love – The West Rand branch of ‘Maak ‘n Verskil’ donated 200 blankets to residents of the SA National Epilepsy League’s Geduld centre.

May 11

• Thieves take precious gift – an elderly woman is robbed of a car which was a gift from her niece.

• Bongiwe wins Rotary trophy – Bongiwe Dlamini from Springs Girls’ High School is the top public speaker at the Refines Raconteur Toastmaster’s third annual Youth Leadership speaking course.

• Hand hygiene made fun – Life Springs Parkland Hospital entertained children from a local nursery school on World Hand Hygiene Day.

May 18

• Accident victim makes a miraculous recovery – Rudi Seyffert is discharged from hospital after a motorbike accident two weeks ago.

• Mundolene’s family have a tough road ahead of them – The death of Mundolene Vosloo (17) is still fresh in the memory of her father Mike Vosloo (47) and her two brothers.

• Metro regrets Marksville broken lift – 15 months since the lift at Marksville municipal apartments broke, residents are still waiting for the metro to attend to it.

• Rescued from alleged sex den – Five girls (aged 14 to 19) were rescued from an alleged human trafficking sex den in Eighth Street, CBD.

• Sewage spill could harm children – Hollywood informal settlement resident Johannes Kekana is concerned about children being exposed to disease due to a sewage spill.

June 29

• Police reveal Yende was injected, beaten to death – David Ngwenya (44) and his defense team appeared in the Springs Magistrate’s Court.

• IRDP housing plans for Daggafontein go ahead – Gavin Enslin, from Daggafontein, says the new development planned on an open piece of land near Daggafontein is of concern to most residents in the area.
