House robbers make off with cellphones and cash

Police are looking for two robbers.

Springs police are looking for two suspects after a house robbery in Selcourt at 10am, on Tuesday.

The incident occurred in Benquet Street while the domestic worker was outside doing the washing.

According to Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora, the owner of the house was in her bedroom at the time.

The woman noticed her domestic worker come running into the bedroom, followed by two men.

“One of the men was armed with a firearm while the other had a knife,” says Ramphora.

Both suspects demanded cellphones from the victims, who handed them over to them.

He says the suspects also took R1 000 in cash before running away.

“The victims phoned the police from their landline,” says Ramphora.

No one was injured during the robbery.
