Robber slaps teenager and robs house

Two children are traumatised after a house robbery in Springs.

Two children were alone at home when two suspects entered their house in Eighth Street, CBD on Thursday.

Their mother left the children, aged 12 and 13 years, alone while she went to the shop at 4.30pm. When the 36-year-old mother returned from the shop her neighbour allegedly informed her she saw two men entering the house.

Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the children informed their mother the two men were wearing balaclavas and one slapped the 13-year-old.

“Two bedrooms were ransacked and jewellery valued at R14 000 were stolen,” says Ramphora.

One of the kitchen units were completely pulled from the wall.
