Dim light at the end of the tunnel for Markville residents

After almost two years of asking the metro for answers to when a new lift will be installed for the senior citizens of Markville Flats, no answers have been provided.

The senior residents have lost all hope of getting a lift before Christmas.

In a statement received from metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe in October, he stated they anticipated to start construction work at the end of November.

He also said once the tender has been approved by the Bid Specification Committee (BSC), the Enterprise Programme Management Office will be contacted to request for proposals from their contractors panel which were suppose to only take 14 days.

Despite questions sent to the metro several times to query the progress of the process, they failed to comment at the time of publishing.
