David Ngwenya released on R15 000 bail #ThembisileYende

“Why are we supposed to learn about the important matters about the case in the media?”

The family of Thembisile Yende, who was found murdered earlier this year, were shocked when they learned (from another media house) that the suspected killer of their daughter and Eskom employee, David Ngwenya, was allegedly released on bail on Thursday.

It is alleged that Ngwenya was mysteriously granted bail of R15 000 in the Springs Magistrates Court.

Ngwenya (44) was arrested on May 15 in Carltonville, on the West Rand.

He was charged with the premeditated murder of Thembisile Yende (30).

During a court hearing, Ngwenya’s lawyer, Advocate Zola Majavu, claimed that the outstanding DNA test will exonerate Ngwenya.

Gauteng SAPS spokesperson, Captain Kay Makhubela, says it is possible that Ngwenya did receive bail.

“The lawyer might have applied for bail at the high court and it was granted.

“It is not necessary for the family to be present at the appeal for the bail hearing,” he says.

Speaking to the media Thembisile’s mother, Nester Yende, says she was shocked when she received a call from the media informing her of Ngwenya’s release.

“No one has contacted us to this day, I have since waited to go back to court next year, on January 31, to hear the DNA test results.

“Why are we supposed to learn about the important matters about the case in the media?

“Not even the investigating officer contacted us about the latest on the case.

“The justice system has failed me and my late daughter.

“His release poses a threat to the family as he might come for us because even his accomplices have not been arrested to date,”she says

The case was postponed in the Springs Magistrates Court on November 15 for January 30 when the outstanding DNA results are expected to be presented.
