Metro tackles Dersley Dam

In response to a query about hyacinth multiplying again at Dersley Dam, the metro commented as follows:

Metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe says they have been working on Dersley Dam in the past few months and are maintaining the dam.

The first phase of the work involved mechanical removal and achieved about 99 per cent hyacinth clearance.

“Currently physical removal is being employed to ensure that the hyacinth is maintained at a manageable level,” says Gadebe.

“In addition, the dam is being monitored and other measures will be employed as an when necessary.”
