Christmas drive to help the homeless

“We are extending a helping hand to them and want to brighten their day.”

KwaThema – Kamogelo Maine and friends are calling on the community to help them collect sanitary towels, food and clothes for the homeless.

The group is aiming to hold a breakfast drive on Christmas Day for the homeless people in Springs, Kwatsaduza and Brakpan.

Kamogelo says they decided to lend a helping hand and share love with the homeless people.

“We have identified that while many of us come together as families, there are people who are less fortunate and have no one to turn to.

“We are extending a helping hand to them and want to brighten their day,” she says.

Kamogelo says they understand that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

“Sharing breakfast on the day will make a difference, like others across the country enjoy with their families.

“We are calling on residents to donate breakfast basics, including sugar, tea and bread.

“We are also urging them to donate especially sanitary towels for the homeless women living on the streets.

“We understand it is hard for them to go through their monthly cycle and that they cannot afford to buy the towels and restore their dignity, especially during the festive period,” she says.

Kamogelo says we can all make a difference if we join hands and help those who are less fortunate.

“Those who are interested in making the drive possible can contact us on 061 900 4311 or 076 736 1364.

“We are also calling on those who want to join the campaign to come forward,” she says.
