Following numerous complaints about the replacement of water meters in Springs and surrounding areas, the metro has provided this comment:
According to metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe, the replacement program allows for domestic meters older than 20 years and meters older than 15 years affecting the reading and billing to be targeted for replacement.
“Bulk meters older than 10 years are also investigated and replacements will depend on findings,” says Gadebe.
In the 2016/17 financial year, close to 4 660 meters were replaced in the Springs area.
