Spring Old Boys Bowling Club hosted a corporate fun day at the club on Friday.
There were 80 people from several business who tried their hand at bowls for the first time.
The two full greens saw 20 teams playing two games of fours, 15 ends in the morning and 10 ends in the afternoon.
Each team had one practiced bowler showing the non-bowlers how it’s done.
The games were followed by the prize-giving and a bring and braai.
Prizes were awarded to the top six teams.
Trevor Plumstead and his team won first prize, followed by Val Smith and her team in second place.
Gordon Davies’ team took third prize, while Cliff Car‘s team took fourth place.
Fifth place saw Rob Austen’s team followed by Wilma Ackerman’s team in sixth place.
The booby prize went to Ingwe Capafaro who also sponsored the day.
Committee member Sharon Pratt says this year’s prizes included slow cookers, sets of pots, beach umbrellas, hand mixers as well as sets of glasses and knife sharpeners.
“Thanks must go to Mike Clarke and Trevor Glanfield for all they have done to make this day a success,” says Pratt.
All the proceeds go to the club.
