The Queen of Africa will continue to do charity work.

Mrs Glamour Africa 2017, Bianca Birnie (35) recently handed over her crown at a prestigious event held at Buffelspoort in Magaliesberg.

Much to her surprise she didn’t leave the event empty-handed, but was crowned Queen of Africa.

The title was given to Birnie who has gone beyond her title during her year of reign to promote the Africa pageant’s brand which is to change lives.

“It came as a surprise and I know that I have lived by my motto to never stay behind my mask,” she says.

Birnie’s passion to work with children took her to schools all over South Africa where she gave motivational talks.

She motivated the learners to do what they want to do and to use their God-given talents.

Her new title will also grant her the opportunity to accompany Carolyn Baldwin Botha, chief executive officer of Mrs Africa, and Janet Potgieter, executive director of Mrs Africa, to the the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 2018.

Her Mrs Glamour Africa 2017 charity work included the Dignity Dreams project.

“We visited schools wsr and stationery to girls at almost 30 high schools and primary schools,” says Birnie.

She is super excited to continue working pgsrinwith children.

During 2017, she handed over about 750 soccer and netball balls to children in different provinces as part of the Living Ball project which is an outreach programme.

A highlight in 2017 was when she visited orphanages, old age homes and squatter camps to hand over clothes, cup cakes, food parcels and blankets.

During her reign she also visited almost 30 primary and high schools, where she gave motivational talks about their dreams and talents, and the need to get out from behind their masks.

While pageants are often criticised for objectifying women, Birnie stresses that “some pageants promote charity work.”

“I will continue to focus on charity work and do what I do best, which is to motivate children to do their best,” says Birnie.
