Group of 16 men robs business

About 16 people involved in business robbery in Eastvale.

Unknown men robbed a tuck shop at Skoonplaas Informal Settlement, Eastvale on Monday.

According to Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora two of the 16 suspects were armed with firearms.

The armed suspects entered the shop pretending to be customers and bought cold drinks.

“Much to the surprise of a worker at the tuck shop, the two suspects pulled out their firearms and pointed it at him,” says Ramphora.

The owner claims the suspects asked for money and moved behind the counter with a co-worker.

Ramphora says soon eight men entered the tuck shop and started to assault both workers.

During the assault the workers noticed more men manning the entrance of the shop.

“The suspects took a cellphone, tablet, airtime to the value of R3 000, cigarettes to the value of R5 000, loaded the stolen goods into a blue Isuzu double cab bakkie and drove off,” says Ramphora.

The incident was only reported to the police on Tuesday morning.

Police are investigating a case of business robbery and theft of a motor vehicle.
