Police call for extra security at residential homes

Police are calling on residents to be extra careful and to tighten security in their homes because the festive season is approaching.

This comes after a case of burglary at residential premises was reported on Saturday evening.

KwaThema police spokesperson, Captain Thabo Sibuyi, says it is alleged a house was broken into along Mokhitli Street.

“It is alleged the complainant had locked all the windows and doors of the house.

“In the morning, while she was at her boyfriend’s home, she received a call from her brother who informed her that the lock of her door was broken.

“The suspects stole valuables including a music system, bedroom suite and other valuables amounting to R3069,” he says.

Sibuyi says he is calling on the residents to ensure there is always someone at home to look after the house when they are not there.

“The suspects target homes which they know have been left unattended,” he says.
