Bakerton family fun

The Bakerton CPF hosted family fun days at Bakerton Primary School on Saturday and Sunday.

Ahmed Chouglay, public relations officer for the Bakerton CPF, says the event was an attempt to bring all ethnic groups of the community together.

“The idea is not to raise money, but to get to know your neighbour,” he says.

The fun day featured 61 stalls including food and craft stalls, a talent show, jumping castle, face painting, slip and slide and many more fun activities.

On Sunday, they hosted a flea market at the school as well as a unification walk through the neighbourhood.

“This is a first for Bakerton and we plan to do this event every year at this time,” says Ahmed.

The event also sought to raise awareness of drug abuse.

“We want to raise awareness against substance abuse and keep children away from drugs.”

Ahmed says the support they received was tremendous.

“People from as far as Pretoria and Lenasia supported us in this event.

“We had a children’s walk which was aimed at having them walk through the streets of Bakerton to show the community what the CPF is about.

“Currently, our biggest aim is Operation Clean Up Bakerton,” says Ahmed.
