Two elderly women tied up during robbery in Selection Park

Suspects robbed a house and load stolen goods in family vehicle.

Three suspects tied up two elderly women at their house in Hills Road, Selection Park on Tuesday.

According to Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesperson the 60-year-old woman was in her bedroom at 2.30pm when the suspects entered the house.

“The suspects gained entry through the back door of the house which they broke open with a screwdriver,” he says.

The 60-year-old woman was taken to her mother-in-law’s (78) bedroom where both women were tied up with scarves.

Ramphora says the suspects asked the victims for money and gold.

The two women gave their rings and a chain to the suspects, who also took their wrist watches, an HP laptop and cellphone.

“They loaded the stolen goods into the family’s gold Toyota Etios and drove off,” says Ramphora.

When the police arrived at the scene they only found a screwdriver that was allegedly left behind by the suspects.

“We are investigating a case of house robbery and theft of motor vehicle,” says Ramphora.
