Five suspects arrested in Geduld for possession of suspected stolen goods

Suspected stolen goods allegedly obtained during a business robbery.

Five suspects, aged between 21 and 31 years, are expected to appear in the Springs Regional Court for possession of suspected stolen goods.

Springs police received a tip-off about where a stash of suspected stolen goods were at 1.30pm on Monday.

Police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says when the police arrived at the address in Third Avenue, Geduld, they found five suspects inside a room at the back of the property.

Sector managers W/O Blackie Swart, W/O Wynand du Toit and Const Freddie Matfield arrested the five suspects and confiscated the suspected stolen goods.

“Upon further investigation, we discovered some of the stolen goods were obtained during a recent business robbery in the CBD,” says Ramphora.

Police are not sure how the suspects obtained the rest of the goods.

The goods include a large number of cellphones, tablets and cellphone repair tools.

Ramphora says the suspects allegedly stole the goods for the purpose of repairing and selling them themselves.

The suspects were taken to the police cells where they will remain until their court appearance.
