Esda concert ends on high note

Residents enjoyed tenor's music.

Esda Nursing Institute hall at Esda Frail Care Centre in New State Areas was packed with energetic residents who enjoyed the music provided by tenor Pierre van der Westhuizen.

On Thursday, Esda administrator Petro Burr-Dixon organised the get together which she refers to as a concert for the residents and guests.

She asked Pierre, a full time singing evangelist, to entertain the guests with his music.

“He spreads the word of God through great inspirational music which was enjoyed by everyone present,” she says.

Before each song, he delivered a message of either hope, faith or love.

He also inspired the guests with his message about always following your dreams.

“To give up hope is to beat the impossible dream,” says Pierre.

He says it was lovely to experience the response of the residents.

To round off the concert, Pierre sang You’ll Never Walk Alone.

“Doesn’t matter where you are, you are never alone,” he says.

Guests Yvonne Geldenhuys and Elna Furstenburg say they have always enjoyed Pierre’s music and hope he will release a new CD soon.

Elna says he is a wonderful person who “can sing”.
