Metro promises to erect fence in Seventh Street, CBD

The metro plans to curb illegal dumping by fencing off an area in the CBD.

The following comment was received from the metro about a complaint (September 28) that illegal dumping in Seventh Street, CBD, is causing businesses to lose revenue.

According to metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe, the metro’s waste management services are aware of the problem as it was also inspected before.

He says an arrangement was made for the refuse to be removed and the area cleaned on October 23.

“This area is constantly plagued by illegal dumping by residents of the adjacent area.

“Metro’s real estate department was requested to fence off the property to curb the illegal dumping,” says Gadebe.

Springs businessman Hennie Louw says it will be wonderful if they come and clean the area.

“If they plan to curb illegal dumping by putting up a fence, it will be even better,” he says.
