Potholes in Pollak Park might be repaired

Residents of Pollack Park might finally be able to drive on smooth streets, as there are talks to repair the potholes.

The many potholes in Pollak Park have seen vehicles being damaged.

The streets with potholes in Pollak Park include, among others, Tobruk Street, Sidi Rezegh Street, Gilgil Street and Alamein Street.

Ward councillor Thulane Simelane says he has reported the pothole issue to the officials.

They advised that, as part of the road rehabilitation programme, the potholes may be repaired.

“The officials are still in talks in regards to when the potholes in Pollak Park will be repaired,” says Simelane.

But Simelane says no date has been set for when the repairs will commence.

A resident of Pollak Park, Bongani Thela says he is happy that the councillor has escalated the issue to the officials after years of uneven streets in the area.

“Despite numerous attempts to report the potholes to the municipality, I am glad that we will finally have smooth roads, all thanks to our ward councillor,” says Thela.

Thela says the potholes have made driving along the streets a bumpy ride for residents and pose as a danger to their vehicles.

“I’ve had to pay to fix my vehicle quite a few times because the potholes seem to occur in different places.

“They also go unnoticed, especially at night.

“One would assume they would be covered with sand and rocks, only to find out that the hole is deep,” says Thela.

The metro failed to comment at the time of publishing.
