A 42-year-old man was inside his vehicle while it was idling when he heard gunshots in Second Street, CBD on Friday.
He started his green BMW at 9pm and was waiting for the vehicle to warm up.
According to Springs police spokesperson, Capt Johannes Ramphora, the man and his friend saw a suspect pointing a firearm at him at his window.
“The suspect instructed them to get out of the vehicle,” says Ramphora.
The suspect jumped into the vehicle and drove off leaving the owner of the vehicle and his friend on the sidewalk.
Ramphora says no one was injured.
Police are investigating a case of hijacking.
