Suspects only take cellphones at clothing store

Suspect show victim firearm hidden under his shirt during a business robbery.

Police are searching for two suspects who robbed a clothing store on September 29.

It happened at Donna at The Avenues Shopping Centre at 10.30am.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesperson, says a suspect entered the business and pulled up his shirt to show the shop attendant his firearm.

He instructed her and her colleague to go the storeroom and to open the safe.

After noticing the cellphones he informed them he has to fetch his accomplice, who had a bag and left them in the storeroom.

Ramphora says the accomplice returned alone and ordered the two women to put the cellphones in the bag.

The women’s hands were tied behind their backs with black tape and the suspects locked them up in the storeroom.

The suspects fled the store on foot, taking an unknown amount of cellphones

“We were told there is video footage available of the business robbery,” says Ramphora
